Expert assessment and treatment for gum disease and periodontal conditions — protecting the structure that supports all of your teeth.

Why gum health matters.

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and its early stages — known as gingivitis — are often symptomless. Our clinicians carry out thorough assessments and provide targeted treatment and guidance to protect your gum health for the long term.

Frequently asked questions

In its earliest stage, known as gingivitis, gum disease is fully reversible with professional cleanings and improved at-home oral hygiene. However, once it progresses to periodontitis, the structural damage cannot be reversed, but the condition can be actively managed to prevent further bone and tooth loss.

We prioritize your comfort and will use local anesthetics to completely numb your gums during deep cleaning procedures like scaling and root planing. You may experience some mild soreness or sensitivity for a few days afterward, which can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

The best defense against gum disease is a strict daily oral hygiene routine, which includes brushing twice a day and flossing at least once. Regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings are also essential, as they remove the hardened plaque (tartar) that brushing alone cannot clear.

Many mild to moderate cases of gum disease can be effectively treated right here by your general dentist and dental hygienist. If your condition is severe, highly complex, or doesn't respond to standard therapies, we will refer you to a trusted periodontist (gum specialist) for advanced care.

Once you have been treated for periodontitis, we generally recommend maintenance cleanings every three to four months. This frequent schedule is crucial to consistently disrupt bacteria recolonization and keep your gums healthy and stable over the long term.
